The Sultanate Council in Sokoto has announced that the search for the new crescent marking the beginning of Ramadan 1446AH will commence on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Muslims across the country have been urged to look out for the appearance of the moon on that day. Those who sight the crescent are expected to report their observations to the nearest District or Village Head.
The moon sighting marks the official start of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting and spiritual reflection.
