President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a significant cabinet reshuffle aimed at enhancing the efficiency of his administration, according to a statement issued by the presidency following Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
The statement highlighted Tinubu’s commitment to fulfilling his promises to Nigerians, announcing eight key appointments as part of the shakeup. Notably, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu has been appointed Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, while Jumoke Oduwole has been named Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, replacing Doris Uzoka-Anite, who has been reassigned as Minister of State for Finance.
This reshuffle comes more than a year into Tinubu’s presidency and includes the appointment of Maigari Dingyadi as Minister of Labour and Employment and Idi Maiha as Minister for the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development. Other appointments include Yusuf Ata as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Suwaiba Ahmad as Minister of State for Education, and Dr. Nentawe Yilwada as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, replacing Betta Edu.
Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Biafran leader Odumegwu Ojukwu, previously served as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Spain and as Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Affairs under President Goodluck Jonathan. Jumoke Oduwole had been Tinubu’s Special Adviser on PEBEC & Investment prior to her new ministerial role.
In addition, President Tinubu has relieved Uju-Ken Ohanenye as Minister of Women’s Affairs, Lola Ade-John as Minister of Tourism, Tahir Mamman as Minister of Education, Abdullahi Gwarzo as Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Jamila Ibrahim as Minister of Youth Development. Ten ministers have also been reassigned to new portfolios as part of the broader reshuffle.
