Over 4,500 residents of Abere and Modakeke communities in Osun State have received food items through a two-day outreach organised by Fidelity Bank Plc, as part of its Fidelity Food Bank initiative aimed at tackling hunger and supporting livelihoods.
The food distribution drive was carried out in partnership with the Osun State Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment and the Esther Adeleke Foundation. Representing the bank’s CEO, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, was the Regional Bank Head, Southwest II, Mrs. Morenike Olabisi.
“This programme aligns with our goal of achieving zero hunger and contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 2,” said Olabisi. “The Fidelity Food Bank, launched in April 2023, has made a measurable impact across all six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.”
In addition to food supplies, the bank also donated 500 Point of Sale (POS) terminals to the state’s Ministry of Cooperatives and Empowerment, aimed at empowering micro-entrepreneurs through improved access to financial services.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, represented by Commissioner Bayo Ogungbangbe, applauded the bank’s sustained commitment. “Fidelity Bank has consistently demonstrated genuine concern for the welfare of Osun citizens. We hope others will emulate this example,” he said.
Erelu Ngozi Adeleke, founder of the Esther Adeleke Foundation, echoed the sentiment. “This collaboration is about lifting people out of poverty. Fidelity Bank has proven to be a dependable partner in our mission,” she noted.
