Aimed at equipping corps members with essential skills for securing employment after their service year, the one-day event, themed “From Clicks to Progress,” focused on digitalisation, entrepreneurship, and employment promotion measures. Participants received instruction on high-priority employability skills, including CV writing and interview preparation techniques.
Helen Igboka, Programme Component Manager for Gender and Inclusion at GIZ’s Skills Development for Youth Employment initiative, urged participants to harness digitalisation and entrepreneurship to advance their careers. She highlighted opportunities within GIZ’s Sustainable Economic Development Cluster (SEDEC) in areas such as digitalisation, entrepreneurship, legal migration services, and various employment promotion measures.
“There are opportunities in digitalisation, entrepreneurship, legal migration services, and various employment promotion measures of the GIZ that the corps members can leverage,” Igboka stated.
Markus Wagner, Country Director of GIZ Nigeria, emphasized the organization’s commitment to empowering Nigerian youth with the tools and opportunities needed for a seamless transition into their future careers. Represented by Duke Benjamin, Head of the Nigerian Energy Support Programme, Wagner underscored the lasting impact of the programme, which also provided a platform for peer-to-peer learning and networking.
