The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) held a vibrant Thanksgiving service at its headquarters in Ijora-Olopa, attended by the management team, staff, neighbors, and well-wishers.

In his welcome address, Dr. Muyiwa Gbadegesin, Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, expressed gratitude for the blessings and mercies bestowed upon the agency’s workers over the past year, despite numerous challenges. He stated, “Today is not a day for speeches but a day for praises and thanksgiving. I appreciate God for his mercies and blessings upon the staff of LAWMA, and I pray he will continue to preserve us as we dedicate our time to service.”

Dr. Gbadegesin further encouraged staff to maintain their commendable service, wishing Lagos residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. He emphasized the importance of community involvement in maintaining a clean and livable environment, urging residents to fulfill their environmental responsibilities and support LAWMA’s initiatives.

Mr. Kunle Adebiyi, Executive Director of Finance, also acknowledged the divine protection over LAWMA staff, highlighting the significance of gratitude and praising Dr. Gbadegesin’s efforts to enhance waste management operations in Lagos for a more people-friendly environment.

The chapel’s president, Mr. Olawumi Oluwaseyi, delivered a sermon themed “With a Grateful Heart,” encouraging attendees to express continual gratitude to God for their protection. He prayed for the grace and mercy upon all members of LAWMA.

The event included scripture readings, with the first reading from Genesis 3:8-15 by Dr. Gbadegesin and the second from Genesis 22:15-18 by Mr. Adebiyi. Additional readings were conducted by various department heads, underscoring the collaborative spirit within LAWMA.

The service culminated in a special song performance by guest minister Sarah Apekeola, alongside hymn renditions by the Emmanuel Chapel choir and a choreographed presentation by the chapel’s children, marking a heartfelt celebration of faith and gratitude.
