The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has mobilised three contractors to commence reconstruction of three high-voltage towers that collapsed earlier in May along the 330kV Kainji-Birnin Kebbi transmission line.
In a statement issued Monday, the company said each contractor has been assigned one tower in what it described as a “strategic deployment” to accelerate the restoration of bulk power supply and minimise downtime.
Efforts are underway to cushion the impact on the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company and its customers, particularly in Sokoto and Birnin Kebbi, which are currently receiving between 6MW and 7MW of electricity through the Mando-Zaria-Funtua-Gusau-Talata Mafara-Sokoto-Birnin Kebbi 132kV line.
“We regret the inconvenience caused by the tower collapse and are committed to restoring full supply as quickly as possible,” TCN said.
The company expressed appreciation to affected communities for their patience and understanding, assuring that engineers and contractors are working tirelessly to rebuild the towers and restring the transmission line.
