Telecommunications giant Globacom has partnered with the Osun State Government to provide 20,000 closed user group (CUG) lines for civil servants, local government staff, teachers, and political appointees in the state.
The initiative, tagged Imole Connect, was formally launched on Wednesday in Osogbo by Governor Ademola Adeleke, who commended Globacom for its investment and support toward Osun’s digital transformation agenda.
Governor Adeleke described the project as a bold step in bridging communication gaps across the state’s public service. “With the launch of 20,000 Glo Imole Connect lines today, we are improving our public servants’ linkage across the state. These lines, operating under a closed user group arrangement, come with significantly reduced call and data rates,” he said.
He added that the scheme would strengthen communication within the public service, enhance efficiency, and eliminate delays often caused by poor information flow. “With this new arrangement, I am confident that we will begin to close those gaps and work in closer alignment,” the governor stated.
Globacom’s National Head of Enterprise Business Group, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, noted that the company was committed to supporting Osun’s governance efforts by providing smooth and affordable communication for ministries, departments, and agencies.
“Globacom has transformed from being just a telecommunications company to a digital solutions provider. We now offer enterprise services to large organisations, government, and public sector institutions to enhance the digital economy and operations of smart cities,” Odejobi said.
