Dangote Industries Limited has launched a whistleblowing initiative aimed at curbing illegal haulage activities involving its trucks, offering a N500,000 cash reward to individuals who provide credible information leading to the arrest of offenders or recovery of unauthorized goods.
The company said the initiative is part of efforts to protect its logistics operations and prevent the misuse of Dangote-branded trucks for transporting goods and passengers outside approved business activities.
In a statement issued in Lagos, Dangote urged members of the public to report suspected cases of illegal haulage, noting that trucks operated by its subsidiaries are restricted to carrying only approved products.
The company explained that Dangote Cement trucks are permitted to transport cement, limestone, high-grade gypsum, coal and clinker, while Dangote Sugar Refinery vehicles are designated for sugar products. Trucks belonging to NASCON Allied Industries are assigned to carry Dangote Salt and DanQ Seasoning products, while Dangote Packaging trucks transport bags and packaging materials.
It added that vehicles operated by Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals are authorised to carry polypropylene products, while Dangote Fertiliser Limited trucks are restricted to urea fertilizer transportation.
Dangote warned that any truck found carrying unauthorized goods would be considered involved in illegal haulage, with drivers and owners of such cargo liable to arrest, confiscation and prosecution.
“Anyone with verifiable information that leads to the arrest of persons involved in illegal haulage activities or the recovery of unauthorized goods transported on Dangote trucks will receive a cash reward of Five Hundred Thousand Naira,” the company stated.
The company advised whistleblowers to provide details such as truck registration numbers, cab numbers, vehicle location, description of goods being transported, truck colour, and photographs of the vehicle or cargo where available.
Dangote said dedicated reporting channels have been established across its operations, while law enforcement agencies, including the police, have been authorised to arrest drivers found using company trucks for unauthorized commercial activities.
The company reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and compliance across its logistics network, urging the public to support efforts to eliminate fraudulent activities and protect the integrity of its brand.
