Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly seeking further reinforcements despite the club’s busy summer transfer activity, with the Portuguese coach keen to strengthen both central defence and midfield ahead of the new season.
Club president Florentino Perez is said to have handed Mourinho significant influence over transfer decisions following his appointment, backing the veteran manager’s vision for the squad.
Real Madrid have already completed the signings of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva during the current transfer window. However, Mourinho is understood to be pushing for at least two more additions.
Although Konate has bolstered the defence, Mourinho reportedly wants another world-class centre-back, citing concerns over Antonio Rudiger’s advancing age and Eder Militao’s recent injury struggles.
The former Chelsea and Manchester United manager is also looking to add a creative midfielder capable of controlling matches and improving the team’s ball possession after an inconsistent campaign last season.
However, further arrivals are expected to depend on player departures, with Real Madrid’s squad already well-stocked in both positions.
Defender Raul Asencio is reportedly among the players facing an uncertain future after falling out of Mourinho’s plans. The coach is said to prefer signing a replacement before encouraging the academy graduate to seek a move elsewhere.
Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has also emerged as a leading candidate for a potential exit, with the club reportedly prepared to cash in on the French international following a dip in form.
Despite the speculation, Camavinga is believed to have no intention of leaving the Santiago Bernabeu and is determined to convince Mourinho that he deserves a place in the squad for the upcoming season.
