Polaris Bank Hosts Staff Children at Workplace

By Ayomide Otitoju

Polaris Bank has hosted children of its employees to a day of learning, fun and workplace discovery as part of efforts to strengthen employee engagement and promote meaningful experiences for staff and their families.

The “Bring Your Child to Work” programme, which welcomed children aged six and above, gave participants an opportunity to visit their parents’ workplace, meet their colleagues and gain a better understanding of their parents’ professional roles.

The children were selected through an internal trivia draw organised for staff and participated in activities focused on learning, creativity, teamwork, interaction and curiosity.

A major highlight of the programme was a guided tour of the bank’s premises, including the banking hall and various departments. The tour exposed the children to the banking environment and showed them how different teams contribute to the bank’s operations.

Speaking at the event, Polaris Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Kayode Lawal, welcomed the children and encouraged them to make the most of the experience.

“At Polaris Bank, we believe that work is more than meetings and desks. It is about solving problems, helping people, making life easier, learning, and making a meaningful contribution,” Lawal said.

He urged the children to remain curious, ask questions, learn and have fun during the programme.

Lawal was represented at the event by the Head of Human Resources, Olanrewaju Oyekunle, who said the initiative was designed to help children understand their parents’ professional lives and inspire them to consider different career possibilities.

The Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Abimbola Ozomah, also led an interactive session introducing the children to basic banking concepts.

The children learnt about how banks operate, the importance of saving, responsible financial habits and the role of banks in helping individuals and businesses manage their finances.

The programme also encouraged the children to interact, make new friends and share what they had learnt about the banking environment.

For participating parents, the initiative provided an opportunity to share part of their daily professional lives with their children while teaching them the importance of work, responsibility, collaboration and service.

Polaris Bank said the programme reflected its focus on employee wellbeing and engagement, while promoting an inclusive and people-focused workplace culture that recognises the connection between employees’ professional and family lives.

For the children, the experience provided an opportunity to explore banking, ask questions, make new friends and gain a new perspective on their parents’ roles in the workplace.
