Manchester City have completed the £65 million signing of Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye on a five-year contract.
The deal is worth £60 million upfront, with a further £5 million available in bonuses. Ndiaye had also attracted interest from Tottenham.
His move to City comes after Liverpool rejected an £80 million bid from the Premier League champions for forward Cody Gakpo on Monday.
City had been looking to strengthen their wide attacking options and midfield before the transfer window closes, with the club also completing a joint-British record £125 million deal for Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez on deadline day.
The club allowed Savio and Omar Marmoush to join Tottenham earlier this month, leaving manager Enzo Maresca short of options on the wings.
City did not name a natural winger on the bench during Friday’s victory over Crystal Palace, with Phil Foden starting out wide despite Maresca acknowledging that he is not a winger.
Ndiaye becomes City’s seventh signing of the summer.
“I’ve worked my whole life for an opportunity like this,” Ndiaye said.
“City are one of the best clubs in the world and I’ve seen them win everything as I’ve grown up.
“To be able to write my own chapter in a story that special is the chance of a lifetime and I’m determined to grab it with both hands.”
Ndiaye added that he enjoys playing in an attacking team that keeps the ball on the ground and aims to score regularly.
City director of football Hugo Viana described Ndiaye as a “very talented footballer” and praised his work ethic, character and determination.
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish is set to join Everton on a season-long loan after being given permission to undergo a medical. The deal will cover the final year of his Manchester City contract.
Everton have also made an offer for Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee.
