The Federal Government has assured parents, guardians and students that all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, with measures in place to ensure a safe and smooth start to the new academic session.
The Federal Ministry of Education said relevant security agencies had been notified of the resumption arrangements and were maintaining heightened vigilance around the colleges and their immediate environments.
Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained central to the government’s efforts to provide a secure and conducive learning environment.
In a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, the ministry said necessary arrangements had been put in place to support a seamless resumption.
The ministry said coordinated efforts with security agencies were aimed at protecting students, staff and school communities as academic activities resume across the country.
Alausa urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and continue preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective colleges.
He also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure an orderly and secure resumption.
The minister called on students, parents, teachers, administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful and supportive school environment.
He said the ministry would continue to monitor developments and take necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the safe and smooth resumption of academic activities nationwide.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring access to quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment.
