The Board and Management of Access Bank Tanzania, led by Chairman Protase Ishengoma, on Friday presented the prestigious “Power of 100 Africa Women” award to President Samia Suluhu Hassan, recognising her transformational leadership and commitment to inclusive development.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit to the State House, where Ishengoma lauded the Tanzanian president’s strides in advancing gender equity, financial inclusion, and economic reforms.
“Your Excellency’s leadership has redefined governance and national prosperity,” said Ishengoma. “Access Bank is proud to support your vision by empowering SMEs, women, and youth.”
The bank also used the occasion to highlight its post-acquisition milestones, including doubling its assets from TZS 270 billion to TZS 519 billion, customer deposit growth to TZS 370 billion, and a return to profitability with TZS 1.6 billion in H1 2025.
Seyi Kumapayi, Executive Director for African Subsidiaries, reaffirmed the bank’s alignment with Tanzania’s development goals. Key initiatives include the W-Initiative, Womenpreneur Pitch-a-Ton Africa, expanded agent banking, and youth-focused financial literacy programs.
The Power of 100 Africa Women Award is a continental honour supported by Access Bank Group, previously awarded to leaders like Namibia’s President Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and DRC Prime Minister Judith Suminwa.
Access Bank Tanzania entered the market through the acquisition of BancABC in 2024 and Standard Chartered’s consumer and business banking portfolio in 2025.
