The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, on Thursday decorated three newly promoted Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) in a ceremony held at the Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.
The newly promoted officers are:
DCP Usman Abdulrahman, formerly Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of operations at Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan.
DCP Baba M. Alhaji, formerly Area Commander of Agbara, Ogun State.
DCP Lawrence Iwodi, formerly Area Commander of Ayetoro, Ogun State.
A Call to Leadership
In his congratulatory remarks, AIG Fayoade emphasized the critical responsibilities that come with their new ranks. He urged the officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, be proactive, and maintain close oversight of their personnel.
“The promotion is not just a recognition of your hard work and dedication but a call to demonstrate exceptional leadership and responsibility. You are expected to lead by example and foster excellence in your areas of command,” AIG Fayoade stated.
Highlighting the importance of their roles, the AIG reiterated that the expectations from senior officers are immense and require unwavering commitment to duty and service to the community.

Speaking on behalf of the newly decorated officers, DCP Usman Abdulrahman expressed gratitude to the AIG for his guidance and leadership. He described AIG Fayoade as a visionary leader and a detribalized Nigerian committed to organizational excellence.
“We assure you, sir, that we will not relent in our efforts to serve our fatherland with utmost dedication and integrity,” DCP Abdulrahman said.
Promotion by the Police Service Commission
The promotion of the officers was recently approved by the Police Service Commission during a plenary session, based on the recommendations of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun.
The ceremony marks a significant milestone in the careers of the decorated officers and underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to recognizing and rewarding excellence and dedication within its ranks.
