Former Minister of Transportation and ex-Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has pledged that coalition leaders will rally behind whoever emerges as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, Amaechi emphasized the opposition’s commitment to a transparent and credible primary process.
“The moment anybody emerges from the primary, all of us will support; that’s the agreement. We insist on a free, fair, and transparent primary,” he said.
Amaechi also called on residents of Rivers State to join the ADC en masse to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming election.
“Every Rivers man who thinks good of the state and country should move to register with the new party and ensure that we remove the current government and stop the hunger that everybody is suffering from,” he added.
The ADC has recently gained traction as the adopted platform for opposition figures seeking to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid under the APC.
