Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday led a delegation to visit ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo at his hilltop residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Accompanying Atiku were former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke and former Sokoto State Governor and Senator Aminu Tambuwal.
While the details of the meeting remain undisclosed, it comes amid growing efforts by opposition politicians to strategize ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with a focus on unseating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku served as Obasanjo’s deputy from 1999 to 2007 and was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, where he finished second to President Bola Tinubu of the APC.
Now 78, Atiku has been a key player in Nigeria’s political landscape for over three decades, making multiple bids for the presidency. His latest meeting with Obasanjo has fueled speculation about potential political realignments ahead of the next general election.
