District chairman at global hand washing day

THE global hand washing day is a day celebrated worldwide, it is an international handwashing campaign which occurs annually. According to Mrs Modupe Oyeduntan “This day is extol across the globe to serve has a reminder that handwashing is important in our lives. It is a day to motivate and mobilize people around the world to improve hand washing habits. This is because washing if hands at critical points during the day, with soap and water are essentially important. Handwashing is very crucial because our hands spread illness and with handwashing it’s one of the best ways to prevent us from getting sick and spreading germs to others.

“In recent times, Globe handwashing has become more relevant due to the COVID-19. According to UNICEF, handwashing is likely to reduce the chances of COVID-19 by 36%. The same act of handwashing after going to toilet or before eating can reduce the risk of children getting diarrhoea by more than 40%. 

In the wake of the current COVID-19 Pandemic, the need for WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) is reaffirmed as one of the ways to prevent coronavirus infections and other diseases. The campaign will continue to raise awareness on the importance of hand washing with water and soap, with focusing on the importance of nutrition and healthcare for women and children, science and health, adolescent health, and gender awarenesses. These are part of the focus of Pink First: Health, Education, Opportunity and Empowerment of women and girls. 

“The Pink First, is the theme for the current Inner Wheel service for the year. The Inner is an International women’s organization centered at creating friendship, service and understanding. 

It is one of the largest women’s service voluntary organization in the world. inner wheel encourages the ideas of personal service through services to humanity. The organization is active in more than 104 hundred countries with more than 108,000 thousand members in 3,895 thousand clubs. They are charged with the celebration of womanhood. 

This year, our project focus more on women through Empowerment programmes, education for girls and women, and lastly health.”
