As part of its ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, Fidelity Bank Plc has distributed food packs to residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under its Fidelity Food Bank initiative.
The outreach, which targeted seven underserved communities within the Mabushi district of Abuja, is part of the bank’s broader commitment to alleviating hunger and supporting vulnerable populations. The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2, which aims to end hunger and achieve food security.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Mr. Sufiyanu Garba, Executive Director, North, Fidelity Bank Plc, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to social impact and sustainable development.
“This initiative stems from our deep-seated responsibility to support underserved communities and contribute to the fight against hunger in Nigeria,” Mr. Garba stated. “While we may not be able to solve all societal challenges, our contributions are making a difference, as evidenced by the positive feedback we continue to receive.”
He added that the bank is focused on empowering communities and investing in their well-being, which is critical to building a sustainable and equitable society.
The Fidelity Food Bank initiative forms a core component of the bank’s CSR strategy, particularly in the area of health and social welfare. With a nationwide scope, the programme prioritizes support for women and children in economically disadvantaged communities across Nigeria.
Community leaders and beneficiaries lauded the bank for the initiative. The District Head of Mabushi, Mr. Hassan Danagna, expressed gratitude for the bank’s timely intervention.
“Fidelity Bank’s support to our community is unprecedented, and we are deeply grateful for this initiative, which provides relief to vulnerable households and less privileged families,” he said. “Given the current economic challenges, this support is timely, particularly as we approach the holy month of Ramadan.”
A beneficiary, Mr. Mukhtar Mohamed, also commended the bank, describing the food distribution as a significant support during tough economic times.
