Digital solutions provider Globacom has introduced its e-SIM technology, offering customers an instant 5GB data bonus upon activation and purchase of a data plan worth N1,500 or more.
In a statement released in Lagos, the telecom giant described the e-SIM as a software-based digital chip embedded in smartphones and wearable devices, eliminating the need for physical SIM cards.
“Customers on any network can enjoy ‘SIM-less’ freedom with Glo e-SIM as an additional SIM on their phones,” the company announced.
The e-SIM technology allows users to seamlessly switch between numbers without needing a physical SIM, offering convenience for frequent travelers and high-net-worth individuals. It also enhances security, as it is harder to remove from devices, and promotes environmental sustainability by reducing plastic waste.
To activate the e-SIM, customers can check their device compatibility by dialing *#06#. If an EID number appears on the screen, the device supports e-SIM technology. Activation can be completed at any Gloworld shop or Glo dealer outlet, with the process taking only a few minutes.
Globacom stated that the launch of e-SIM reaffirms its commitment to delivering future-ready telecom solutions tailored to the needs of its customers.
