Globacom Launches Nigeria’s First Device Protection Plan

By Ayomide Otitoju

Globacom has become the first telecom operator in Nigeria to introduce a device protection plan for mobile users, in collaboration with technology partner Cubecover.

The new service allows Glo subscribers to insure their phones against screen or water damage for as little as ₦50 daily, ₦300 weekly, or ₦600 monthly. Customers can claim up to ₦50,000 in repair costs once they’ve subscribed for at least a month.

Globacom’s Head of VAS, Mojeed Aluko, said the plan aims to help users stay connected despite unexpected device damage. Subscription is via USSD code 70131#, with instant diagnostic checks and IMEI registration.

Cubecover CEO Deji Macaulay said the partnership streamlines protection with fast, paperless claims and affordable premiums—addressing a major concern for millions of smartphone users in Nigeria.
