Israel Ogundipe, the founder of Genesis Global Ministry, has made a startling revelation regarding an unsolicited loan offer from a bank. In a recent statement, Ogundipe recounted an interaction with a bank that approached him with a proposal for a N1 billion loan.
Ogundipe explained, “A bank contacted me two months ago, offering me a N1 billion loan. When I inquired about the purpose of the loan, they explained that many churches were taking such loans, and they believed I could repay it because of the size of my church.”
He continued, “I asked them how they expected me to make the repayments, and they suggested that during our revivals and crusades, we could pay back on a monthly basis. They even mentioned other churches that had taken loans ranging from N3 billion to N4 billion.”
Ogundipe expressed his astonishment at the offer, questioning how he would manage to repay such a substantial amount. The bank’s response highlighted that churches often rely on continuous events like conferences, crusades, and revivals to generate the funds necessary to repay these loans.
This revelation has sparked conversations about the financial pressures and expectations placed on religious institutions, raising concerns about the sustainability and ethics of such loan offers.
