The three Israeli women who were the first hostages released by Hamas under the recent ceasefire agreement with Israel have been discharged from Sheba Medical Center, the hospital announced on Sunday.
In a statement, the hospital said, “The three hostages who were flown to Sheba for treatment were released today.”
The civilians, Emily Damari, Doron Steinbrecher, and Romi Gonen, were freed last Sunday as part of the initial hostage-prisoner exchange under the ongoing Gaza truce. Their release was part of an agreement in which Israel freed 90 Palestinian prisoners in return.
After being handed over to the Red Cross, the women were transported across the border to an Israeli military base, where they were reunited with their mothers. They were subsequently flown by helicopter to the hospital in Ramat Gan, near Tel Aviv.
While Sheba Medical Center did not disclose details about the women’s medical condition or the treatment provided, it assured that it would “continue to treat them as needed going forward.”
The release and subsequent care of the hostages have been closely monitored, as the truce continues to facilitate further exchanges between the two sides.
