Students and staff of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, are set to benefit from enhanced digital connectivity following the launch of two innovative services—GloShare and the Mobile Community Telephony Plan—by leading digital solutions provider, Globacom.

The unveiling ceremony, held on the university’s main campus, marked a strategic step in Globacom’s drive to strengthen communication and digital collaboration within Nigerian tertiary institutions.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Adewale Adiatu, Enterprise Southwest Regional Head of Globacom, noted that the new offerings would significantly transform the way students and faculty connect, share resources, and engage both socially and academically.

“GloShare will provide students and staff access to the university’s digital portal and educational materials without consuming their personal data, while the Mobile Community Plan allows for seamless intra-campus communication by connecting all KWASU subscribers on a unified platform,” Adiatu explained.

Also addressing the gathering, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi, Enterprise National Vertical Head at Glo Enterprise Sales, disclosed that several telecom sites had already been installed across the KWASU campus, with additional infrastructure currently under development to guarantee uninterrupted service delivery.

Describing the launch as “historic and futuristic,” KWASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, praised the initiative for aligning with the university’s ongoing efforts to foster innovation and leadership among students. The launch coincided with a student-led leadership forum themed “Redefining Leadership in the Age of AI: Students as Innovators, Volunteers, and Changemakers.”

“These services are homegrown and tailored to meet our unique needs, which speaks to the forward-thinking culture we cultivate here at KWASU,” Prof. Jimoh said.

President of the KWASU Students’ Union Government, Mallam Abdulafeez Babatunde Kewulere, also commended Globacom for selecting KWASU as the pilot institution for the digital solutions.

“This partnership underscores Glo’s unwavering commitment to empowering Nigerian students with 21st-century tools,” he remarked, encouraging his fellow students to make the most of the platforms.
