Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced on Wednesday that his administration will collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to ensure the successful development of the 2,000 Housing Units for the Lagos Renewed Hope City project in the Ibeju Lekki area.
During a courtesy visit from the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, at the Lagos House in Marina, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need for strong support and cooperation to optimize available land and create a livable and safe environment for residents.
He commended the Minister for his ambitious initiatives regarding the Renewed Hope City in Lagos and across the nation. “We believe that success in Lagos is a national success,” Sanwo-Olu remarked, stressing the importance of properly allocating resources to support the initiative. He expressed confidence in the joint efforts of the federal and state governments, likening their relationship to that of “Siamese twins.”
“We are both partners with the same vision and intentions,” he added, underscoring a commitment to a collaborative approach that benefits both entities.
Minister Dangiwa praised the Sanwo-Olu administration for its notable achievements in governance and urban development. He reiterated the federal government’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and announced plans for a ceremonial groundbreaking for the housing project early next year.
Dangiwa highlighted that the land for the project was secured with the support of the Lagos State Government, noting that construction is already underway. He also called for harmonizing federal and state regulatory processes to create an investment-friendly environment conducive to sustainable urban development.
“This synergy is critical to attracting private sector investment and ensuring sustainable urban development,” Dangiwa said, adding that Lagos State has set a precedent by being the first to execute the National Building Code.
He concluded by expressing hope that addressing longstanding challenges in the relationship between the two levels of government would further strengthen their partnership and ultimately improve the living conditions for residents of Lagos. “We are one government,” he stated, reaffirming the commitment to a collaborative approach in land administration and urban development
