The Luli Concert 2024 Open Mic Challenge has become a platform for budding musicians to showcase their talent, and participants like Rachel Abruzzi have shared their experiences filled with excitement and challenges. “It’s been really great, though at times overwhelming,” Rachel reflected. “I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone and met many new people in this competitive environment.”
Initially planning to perform a hymn, Rachel made a last-minute decision to switch to a contemporary song. “It was unexpected, but I felt it was the right choice based on what others performed. I believe I did well, and I trust God with the outcome.”
For Elizabeth Yosu, representing the CCC Marjahman Federal Parish in Lagos, the event was a dream come true. “Music is my passion, and I’m always eager to seize opportunities like this. My goal is to take the first position,” she declared confidently.
Samson Ibanji, a returning performer, reflected on his artistic growth. “I didn’t think I was that good, but I appreciated the feedback from my mentors. I’ve grown since my early performances at Lully Concert,” he remarked.
Ayamede Dada expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity. “I’m thankful to be part of this event,” he said. Similarly, Femi Masha shared his feelings of both excitement and nervousness. “Before stepping on stage, I was scared, but it was rewarding.”
Veteran saxophonist Vicky Sax, who has been playing for nearly a decade, emphasized perseverance. “I want to reach the peak of my music career. My father’s encouragement still motivates me,” he revealed, recalling his early days of learning the instrument.
Ibrahim Darwashi, another contestant, shared his dedication and preparation for the event. “I’ve been preparing for this, and I’m grateful to perform today. I encourage fellow musicians to keep pushing and stay professional in their craft.”
Many performers attributed their success to divine intervention. “Without God, I wouldn’t be here,” said one participant. “I started with nothing, but through faith, I’ve come this far.”
As the night progressed, it became evident that the Luli Concert Open Mic Challenge was more than just a competitionit was a celebration of raw talent, personal growth, and the shared passion for music that united these aspiring artists
