Mercy Chinwo Accuses Ex-Manager of Exploitation, Paternity Rumors

By Ayomide Otitoju

Popular gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has leveled serious accusations against her former manager, Ezekiel Onyedikachukwu, the founder of EeZee Conceptz, alleging financial exploitation and involvement in spreading false rumors about her son’s paternity.

In a video shared on her Instagram page on Monday, the Obinasom singer accused Onyedikachukwu of diverting approximately $345,000 from her digital platforms and event revenues without her knowledge or consent. Chinwo also claimed that Onyedikachukwu spread false claims that her child was fathered by fellow gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey.

The allegations follow a public fallout between Chinwo and her former record label. While Onyedikachukwu has denied breaching their contract, Chinwo insists the label head is behind the slander campaign and other actions aimed at tarnishing her reputation.

“He looked at me and said, ‘I made you who you are, and I will destroy you,’” Chinwo tearfully revealed in her video. “I became scared for my life and had to relocate from Lagos to Port Harcourt because the environment became toxic for me. I’ve endured bullying and threats for too long.”

She further accused Onyedikachukwu of withholding her royalties for two years and attempting to sabotage her career by fueling enmity between her and other gospel artists, including Nathaniel Bassey and Pastor Jerry Eze.

“One of my crimes was collaborating with Pastor Nathaniel Bassey,” she explained. “Because he dislikes Pastor Nathaniel, he went as far as sponsoring fake news about my innocent child. He even paid bloggers to spread these lies.”

Nathaniel Bassey has since petitioned the police to investigate and prosecute those spreading the false paternity rumors.

The escalating feud has sparked conversations about artist-manager relationships in the Nigerian gospel music industry, with many calling for improved contractual transparency and ethical practices. Neither Onyedikachukwu nor representatives of EeZee Conceptz have issued an official response to the latest allegations.
