The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has released a statement addressing the reported fire incident at the Mobil filling station in Ikeja, Lagos.
Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, clarified that the explosion was not linked to the recently commissioned NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd (NGML)/NIPCO Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Stations, which are currently operating without any safety incidents. The explosion, occurring at approximately 11 a.m., resulted in injuries to two individuals and substantial property damage, including at least seven vehicles, but fortunately, no fatalities were reported. The statement highlighted that the NGML facilities in Lagos, encompassing pipelines, metering stations, above-ground installations, and CNG facilities, remain unaffected by the explosion and continue to operate under safe conditions.
