The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has launched the third edition of its Vision First Programme, focusing on the Ilaje community and surrounding areas in Bariga, Lagos State. This initiative continues NNPC Ltd/SNEPCo Production Sharing Contract (PSC) commitment to improving health and well-being in host communities.
In a statement on Wednesday, NNPCL’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, revealed that the programme will provide over 1,000 individuals with free eye care services, including cardiovascular screenings, BMI assessments, laboratory services, consultations, and treatment for both mild and chronic conditions, as well as distribute insecticide-treated nets.
Soneye highlighted the programme’s impact since its inception, noting that over 1,853 individuals have benefited from free eye care services. The Lagos edition, which began in 2022, has screened 2,000 people, provided 1,199 prescription glasses, administered medication to 1,310 beneficiaries, and facilitated successful medical procedures for 189 individuals.
Chief Upstream Investment Officer of NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (CUIO – NUIMS), Mr. Bala Wunti, represented by Mrs. Bunmi Lawson, emphasized the programme’s goal of addressing preventable vision issues and improving lives within NNPC Ltd’s host communities.
The Vision First Programme underscores the importance of proactive health management and exemplifies NNPC Ltd’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainable community support.
