Nollywood Veteran Charles Olumo ‘Agbako’ Dies at 101

Renowned Nollywood actor Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, widely known by his stage name Charles Olumo or “Agbako,” has passed away at the age of 101. The President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan, also known as Mr. Latin, confirmed the news via an Instagram post on Tuesday.

“TAMPAN announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as Agbako. Details of the burial arrangements will be shared at a later time. Good night, father, 25/02/1923 to 31/10/2024,” Mr. Latin wrote.

Born on February 25, 1923, Agbako was celebrated for his powerful presence and exceptional performances in the Yoruba film industry. Known for his roles as a formidable villain, warrior, and chief, Agbako’s ability to portray tough characters made him a beloved figure among movie lovers across Nigeria. He leaves behind a lasting legacy in Nollywood as one of its most iconic figures.
