Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has issued a bold challenge to his critics, declaring that he would immediately withdraw from the 2027 presidential race if anyone can provide credible evidence that he engaged in corrupt practices.
Obi made the declaration during a live interview on Channels Television’s political programme hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, where he strongly refuted allegations of financial misconduct both in his time as a public official and in private business.
“I am not part of any criminal gang,” he stated. “My records, both as a businessman and as a two-term governor of Anambra State, are clean. If anyone, I mean anyone, can show that I stole even one kobo at any point in my life, I will withdraw from the 2027 presidential race immediately.”
The statement comes amid heightened political tension and sustained scrutiny from rival political camps, many of whom have attempted to cast doubts on Obi’s integrity and transparency.
By daring his detractors to present evidence or desist, Obi not only defended his reputation but also underscored his commitment to ethical governance and personal accountability.
