Rite Foods CEO Urges NUTM Students on Opportunities

By Ayomide Otitoju

As part of ongoing efforts to promote human capital development and value reorientation among Nigerian youth, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Rite Foods Limited, Mr. Seleem Adegunwa, has encouraged students of the Nigerian University of Technology and Management (NUTM) to seize the opportunities available within the Nigerian economic ecosystem.

During a visit to the university’s Apapa campus in Lagos, Mr. Adegunwa, accompanied by top management staff and his wife, called on students to pursue their dreams with courage, resilience, and national pride. He emphasized the importance of commitment, creativity, and perseverance in achieving long-term success.

Speaking on Rite Foods’ journey, Adegunwa drew parallels between the company’s “Proudly Nigerian” identity and the entrepreneurial spirit required for personal achievement. He highlighted how the indigenous FMCG giant has leveraged innovation to thrive in a competitive market, citing milestones such as the introduction of Nigeria’s first polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottled energy drink and the distinct Nigerian symbol featured on Bigi soft drink labels—trends later adopted by competitors.

“Nigerians have what it takes to succeed globally. It requires focus, persistence, and continuous innovation,” Adegunwa said, while advising aspiring entrepreneurs to remain determined even when early efforts don’t yield immediate results. “Keep refining your ideas until you find the one that works. Study a course you are passionate about and strive for excellence.”

He further encouraged students to strengthen their intellectual capacity and seek practical work experience before venturing into business. “Entrepreneurship is hard work. Do what aligns with your passion and wiring. Learn how businesses are run before starting yours,” he added.

The visit concluded with remarks from NUTM Founding President, Dr. Babs Omotowa, who commended Adegunwa for his inspiring address. He noted that the session would leave a lasting impact on the students, helping them shape their academic and entrepreneurial paths.
