Societal Concerns to Host Femicide Symposium in Lagos

In response to the alarming rise in femicide across Nigeria, the Societal Concerns Organization will hold a high-profile symposium on Tuesday, 17th December 2024, at the LCCI Conference Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. Themed “Breaking the Silence on Femicide,” the event aims to unite key stakeholders in a collective effort to combat this growing issue.

The symposium will feature special guest appearances by Ashny and other distinguished personalities committed to advancing gender justice. Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, First Lady of Lagos State and Matron of Societal Concerns, will serve as the Special Guest of Honor, recognized for her advocacy in the welfare and safety of women.

Other notable speakers and panelists, including members of the judiciary, policymakers, community leaders, and activists, will gather to discuss strategies for eradicating gender-based violence in Nigeria.

Adding to the significance of the event, HRM Michael Kolawole Adekoya, Ilufemiloye I, Alaye Aba of Aba Kingdom, Aiyepe Ijebu, will attend as the Royal Father of the Day, lending royal support to the cause.

Amb. Oluwayomi Oluwapelumi of Societal Concerns Organization has extended an invitation to all stakeholders, community members, and advocates for gender equity to participate in this vital conversation, with the aim of fostering a society that prioritizes the protection and empowerment of women.
