The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has urged Nigerians to continue praying for peace and supporting leaders at all levels to foster national growth and development.
Speaking in his Eid-El-Fitr message on Sunday after the Sallah prayers, the Sultan expressed deep concern over rising insecurity across the country while commending security agencies for their ongoing efforts to restore peace.
He called on citizens to engage in constructive criticism rather than unwarranted attacks on leaders striving to address Nigeria’s challenges.
The Sultan also commended the Sokoto State Government for its transformational projects, urging residents to support the administration in achieving more. He emphasized that the relationship between leaders and the people is a continuous one, and encouraged the government to sustain its developmental strides.
Abubakar particularly appreciated the state government and wealthy individuals who provided assistance to residents during Ramadan, ensuring they could observe the fast with ease. He praised Governor Ahmad Aliyu for extending special support to orphans and widows, enabling them to celebrate Eid-El-Fitr without hardship.
Additionally, the Sultan acknowledged the Ulamas and clerics for conducting themselves with dignity during Ramadan Tafsir (sermons), noting that their respectful discourse benefited the Muslim community through sound religious teachings.
He urged Nigerians to remain united, embrace peace, and uphold moral values, stressing that harmony and collaboration are essential for the country’s progress.
