At the star-studded premiere of The Uprising: Wives on Strike, the atmosphere was electric as cast members and guests gathered for the much-anticipated release set to hit cinemas on October 18th. Tamewa Tepe, one of the film’s lead actors, expressed her excitement: “I’m just thrilled to see myself and the amazing thespians involved in this project. The director was incredible to work with, and the experience was an eye-opener into what true excellence feels like. I just can’t wait for everyone to see Wise Men Strike the Uprising because it’s going to be a hit.”
Tepe described the production process as “smooth overall,” with only minor challenges along the way. “It was an easy shoot, with the usual tests, but nothing too major. The whole process was enjoyable.”
Dr. Cherie Ramosali, an attendee, praised the film’s themes, stating, “There are so many conversations this movie will spark—ranging from police brutality to kidnappings, and even feminism. It portrays a strong sense of community and togetherness, with a core focus on women supporting women. I’m really looking forward to the storytelling.” Ramosali, who was dressed in her personal elevated style for the event, emphasized the importance of films like Wives on Strike in amplifying these critical social issues.
Nneka Eke, another guest, expressed her admiration for the film’s lead actresses, particularly Chioma Akota and Uche Jombo. “I’ve followed their journey on Instagram and can’t wait to see their performances. It’s encouraging to see women excelling and lifting each other up in the industry.”
Elvina Baby Hebrew, an actor in the film, highlighted the project’s deep societal impact. “This is a very intense drama with a touch of comedy, but it addresses real issues like kidnapping and the state of the nation. It’s not just entertainment; there’s a serious message here. I believe this movie will push authorities to act on some of the issues it raises.”
Omoni Oboli, who has been a key figure in the Wives on Strike series, assured fans that the latest installment would not disappoint. “It’s the same Wives on Strike with comedic flair but heavier on drama. We’re tackling serious issues, but fans, whether they’ve seen the previous films or not, will definitely have fun.”
The evening was not only about the film but also a celebration of style, with attendees decked out in black, green, and other dazzling colors. The event radiated positivity, underscored by a shared commitment to elevating women’s voices and narratives in film.
