President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday received the Vice President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, Geraldo Alckmin, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima, in a high-level diplomatic meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
Speaking during the engagement, President Tinubu emphasized the deep historical ties and shared democratic values between both nations. He noted that the visit marks a significant step forward in expanding cooperation across critical sectors including agribusiness, energy, healthcare, defence, trade, and culture.
A focal point of the talks was the $1 billion Green Imperative Programme, a flagship bilateral initiative to transform Nigeria’s agriculture sector through mechanisation, technology transfer, and the establishment of service centres nationwide.
President Tinubu also confirmed Nigeria’s readiness to participate actively at the upcoming COP30 in Belém, Brazil, with both nations expected to scale up collaboration on climate action and energy transition.
“This visit reflects a shift from goodwill to execution. From renewable energy ventures to cultural and security cooperation, we are moving toward tangible results,” Tinubu stated.
He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening South-South partnerships rooted in mutual respect and sustainable development.
