Tinubu Confers GCON on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

President Bola Tinubu has awarded the national honor of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting Nigeria’s commitment to its long-standing partnership with India.

The announcement was made during the Nigeria-India bilateral meeting at the State House in Abuja on Sunday.

“This honor signifies Nigeria’s appreciation and commitment to India as a partner,” President Tinubu stated.

He commended Modi for India’s unwavering support for Nigeria over the decades, emphasizing the enduring collaboration between both nations in various sectors.

“You have stood side by side with Nigeria on many fronts for many decades,” Tinubu said. “This honor is a testament to our joint commitment to democracy, development, and strengthening bilateral ties.”

The gesture underscores the importance of Nigeria’s relationship with India, particularly as both nations seek to deepen economic and diplomatic ties.
