Watford defender William Ekong has praised the quality of Super Eagles strikers Victor Osimhen, Kelechi Iheanacho and Paul Onuachu, saying they deserve all the accolades they have been getting.
Ekong singled out his fellow Eagles teammates ahead of next month’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.
“I think Paul Onuachu, Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen and all these guys inside the best leagues in Europe deserve great praise,” said Ekong, who has been stand-in captain of the Eagles in the absence of Ahmed Musa.
All three strikers have been included in the qualifiers next month.
Ekong also spoke about the growing competition and young players pushing for places in the team.
“This is really exciting time to be a part of the Super Eagles. We have a healthy competition between players who play the same positions on the team. We also have a lot of young players who really want to prove themselves and have the best part of their careers ahead of them,” he said
The Super Eagles welcome Liberia on September 3, before they tackle Cape Verde in Priai four days later.
