U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday issued a stern warning to Iran, vowing overwhelming military retaliation should the Islamic Republic launch any attack on the United States.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated, “If we are attacked in any way, shape, or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before.”
His comments follow days of escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, triggered by Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear and intelligence facilities early Friday. The attacks, which Tehran claims killed several top military commanders and nuclear scientists, were followed by retaliatory missile strikes by Iran.
Trump emphasized that the United States had no involvement in Israel’s military operation, despite prior awareness. “We had nothing to do with the attack on Iran tonight,” he wrote, distancing Washington from the intensifying conflict.
Nevertheless, he suggested diplomacy was still possible, asserting, “We can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict.”
On Friday, Trump had urged Tehran to pursue a deal or risk facing “even more brutal” retaliation from Israel.
During his presidency, Trump withdrew the U.S. from the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, reimposing sanctions and significantly heightening tensions in the region — a legacy that continues to influence the current geopolitical standoff.
