Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday that Ukrainian forces now control 74 settlements in Russia’s Kursk border region. This marks a significant increase from the 28 settlements reported by the Kursk governor on Monday.
In his evening address, Zelensky highlighted the ongoing, intense fighting but emphasized the continued progress of Ukrainian forces in the area. He noted that Ukraine has successfully increased its stock of Russian prisoners of war for future exchanges and is preparing for further operations.
Zelensky shared a video call with military chief Oleksandr Syrsky, who reported that Ukrainian troops have advanced between 1 and 3 kilometers in certain areas. In the past day, Ukraine has seized control of an additional 40 square kilometers, bringing the total area under Ukrainian control to approximately 1,000 square kilometers.
Syrsky confirmed that fighting continues along the entire front line but assured that the situation remains under control despite the high intensity of the conflict.
