GTBank Addresses Website Outage, Denies Cloning Claims

Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank), one of Nigeria’s leading financial institutions, has clarified that its website was not cloned but was the target of an “isolated incident” involving an attempted compromise of the bank’s domain.

The bank’s website has been down since Wednesday night, causing concerns among customers about potential data breaches. However, in a statement released on Thursday, GTBank reassured its customers that no data has been compromised.

“We do not store customer information on our website, and there has been no instance of compromise of customer data,” the statement read.

GTBank also emphasized that the claims circulating in the media about the website being cloned are unfounded. The bank assured customers that a team of Information Security Experts is working diligently to restore the website’s domain settings, and the site will be back online shortly.

“We urge all our customers to disregard the claims in these media reports and assure you of our unwavering commitment to safeguarding customer data,” the bank added.
