Dino Melaye: PDP’s Influence Over, Leadership Accused of Commercialization

Dino Melaye, the 2023 Kogi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that the party’s influence in the political landscape has come to an end, accusing its leadership of commercialization and privatization.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, the former Kogi West Senator lashed out at the PDP’s acting national chairman, Iliya Damagum, national secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and national organizing secretary Umar Bature, accusing them of irreparably damaging the party.

“End of the road for PDP as Damagum, Bature, and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialization and privatization of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time,” Melaye wrote.

His remarks follow allegations by PDP lawmakers in the House of Representatives that Damagum and Anyanwu were aiding defected former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly in a plot to impeach Governor Sim Fubara.

Responding to the allegations, Damagum dismissed calls for his resignation, asserting that such demands only serve to enhance his popularity rather than diminish it.
