Yusuf Magaji Bichi, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), has resigned from his position, according to a statement issued on Monday by Ajuri Ngelale, the media aide to President Bola Tinubu. Alongside Bichi’s resignation, the President has also accepted the resignation of Ahmed Abubakar, Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
In the statement, Ngelale announced the appointments of Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director-General of the DSS and Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director-General of the NIA, replacing Bichi and Abubakar, respectively.
Bichi, who had a distinguished career within the DSS, served in various key roles, including as State Director of Security in Jigawa, Niger, Sokoto, and Abia States. He also held directorial positions in all National Headquarters Directorates, including Security Enforcement, Operations, and Intelligence. Bichi was appointed DG of the DSS by former President Muhammadu Buhari in September 2018, capping a long and successful tenure in national security
