Tinubu to Skip Some APC Campaign Rallies to Focus on Governance

By Ayomide Otitoju

President Bola Tinubu has said he will prioritise governance over political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general election, noting that he will not attend all campaign rallies organised by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Tinubu spoke on Wednesday during the inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The President said the demands of governance required his continued attention, even as the party intensifies its preparations for the election.

“Nigeria needs more attention now than ever before. The responsibility of this office does not pause,” he said.

He added that he would make time to address Nigerians directly while allowing party leaders to coordinate campaigns across states and local government areas.

“The job must go on. However, I will still make time to speak directly with Nigerians, even as you lead the campaign in the states and local government areas. So you will excuse me from going everywhere with you,” Tinubu said.

The President also highlighted the need to meet the country’s financial obligations and attract foreign investment, saying the government must ensure that investors remain committed to Nigeria’s long-term economic prospects.

“We have bills to pay. The American creditors cannot wait. We want those investors to come in, be here to stay, to invest for the future of our children,” he said.
