The Kauran Bauchi Frontiers, a Bauchi-based group, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to appoint former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, as his spokesman. The group made this suggestion in response to Dogara’s ongoing criticisms of Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed.
In a statement signed by the group’s chairman, Musa Zango, the Kauran Bauchi Frontiers argued that such an appointment would enhance Dogara’s political relevance in the current administration. The group also challenged Dogara to clarify his role in Governor Mohammed’s emergence during the 2019 general elections, disputing claims that Dogara was instrumental in Mohammed’s victory.
Zango stated that the 2019 election that brought Governor Mohammed to power was a collective effort led by Mohammed himself, and that Dogara’s involvement was no more significant than that of any other voter. The group also noted that despite opposition from Dogara and others, Mohammed was re-elected in 2023 with an even larger margin of victory.
The Kauran Bauchi Frontiers further disputed Dogara’s claim to have brought peace to Tafawa Balewa LGA, attributing the lasting peace in the area to the relocation of the local government headquarters during former Governor Isa Yuguda’s administration.
The group criticized Dogara for attempting to take credit for developments in Bauchi State and warned him against attacking Governor Mohammed, threatening to reveal more details if Dogara continues his criticisms.
