Bayern Munich Held 3-3 by Viking After Olise Red Card

Bayern Munich surrendered a late lead to draw 3-3 with Norwegian champions Viking in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday after Michael Olise was sent off.

Viking took a 2-0 half-time lead through goals from Gianni Stensness and Peter Christiansen before Harry Kane inspired Bayern’s comeback with two goals and an assist.

However, Olise’s dismissal in the closing stages gave the hosts an opportunity to fight back, with Herman Haugen scoring in the final minute to secure a draw.

The red card means Olise will miss Bayern’s next Champions League fixture against English champions Arsenal in Munich.

Viking stunned the German side just 72 seconds into the match when Stensness headed home from an outswinging corner.

Bayern responded by increasing the pressure, but Kane twice failed to beat Viking goalkeeper Arild Ostbo with headers.

The hosts doubled their advantage in the 38th minute when Christiansen finished a swift attacking move to make it 2-0.

Bayern reduced the deficit shortly after half-time when Konrad Laimer was brought down in the penalty area. Kane converted from the spot, placing the ball into the bottom-right corner despite Ostbo getting a touch.

The England captain equalised on the hour mark, heading in a cross from Joshua Kimmich to make it 2-2.

Luis Diaz had a goal ruled out for offside shortly afterwards, but the Colombian eventually put Bayern ahead after Kane initiated another attacking move. Laimer’s effort was saved, allowing Diaz to finish the rebound and give the visitors a 3-2 lead.

Bayern appeared set for victory until Olise received two yellow cards within a minute, first for a foul and then for dissent, leaving the visitors with 10 men with 16 minutes remaining.

Viking capitalised on their numerical advantage, with Haugen scoring in the final minute to earn the Norwegian side a memorable draw against the German giants.

Despite the result, Kane extended his scoring run to nine consecutive Champions League matches, equalling a Bayern club record previously set by Robert Lewandowski. He moved within two matches of Cristiano Ronaldo’s competition record of scoring in 11 consecutive games.

The draw came days after Bayern conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history during their 2-2 draw against Augsburg on Saturday.
