BREAKING: Lagos Court Orders VeryDarkMan to Remove Defamatory Posts About Falana

By Ayomide Otitoju

The Lagos State High Court has directed controversial social media critic, Martin Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, to take down defamatory comments and videos targeting prominent lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana (SAN), and his son, popular musician Folarin Falana, also known as Falz.

In a ruling delivered by Justice M.O. Dawodu on Monday in suit no: ID/8584/GCM/2024, the court found that the statements made by VeryDarkMan on his social media platforms on September 24, 2024, linking Bobrisky to Falana and his son, were defamatory and damaging to their reputations.

According to the ruling, “The publications made by the defendant (VeryDarkMan) were false and untrue, yet he proceeded to publish them with the intent to injure the applicants’ (Falz and Falana) public image.”

The court further noted that the defamatory content remains online, continuing to harm their reputations as long as it is accessible. Justice Dawodu emphasized that the posts, which have been widely circulated on VeryDarkMan’s platforms, must be removed to mitigate the damage.

Further updates on the case are expected.
