IGP Egbetokun, Defence Officials Extend Condolences to Widow of Late COAS Lagbaja

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, and senior officials from the Defence Headquarters extended their condolences on Tuesday to Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, widow of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, at his official residence in Abuja.

During the visit, the IGP described the late General as a devoted leader who dedicated his life and expertise to strengthening Nigeria’s security landscape. “Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja was a great man whose commitment to defending our nation’s security was unwavering,” IGP Egbetokun stated.

Accompanying the IGP were key dignitaries including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON; Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, MON; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa; along with service chiefs and senior officers from the Defence Headquarters.

Reflecting on Gen. Lagbaja’s significant contributions to the fight against insurgency and terrorism, the IGP remarked that his passing is an immense loss to the nation and leaves a gap in Nigeria’s defense structure.

On behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP extended heartfelt condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Armed Forces, the family, and friends of the late General, praying for strength and comfort for them in this difficult time.
