NSCDC Anambra Honors Newly Promoted Officers in Awka Ceremony

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has honored newly promoted officers in a ceremony that highlighted the importance of loyalty, discipline, and commitment to their new ranks. The event, held at the State Command Headquarters in Awka, saw the decoration of officers recently elevated by the Civil Defence, Correctional Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

State Commandant of the NSCDC, Maku Olatunde, commended the officers for their hard work, loyalty, and dedication, which earned them their promotions. “This promotion is not just a recognition of your efforts, but a call to higher responsibility,” said Comdt. Maku. He urged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate innovation in tackling contemporary security challenges, enhancing public confidence in the NSCDC.

Expressing gratitude to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Tunji Ojo, and the Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Audi, Comdt. Maku acknowledged their support in advancing the careers of deserving officers within the corps. “Promotion comes with a proportionate increase in responsibilities. As you climb the ranks, remember the added duties and obligations,” he said.

Representing Assistant Commandant General Solomon Iyamu of Zone K, Commandant Edwin Ugwuja encouraged the officers to lead by example and inspire their teams to uphold the integrity of the corps. Similarly, Steve Ojelade, State Director of Security, and Lt. Commander M. Buba of the Nigerian Navy, congratulated the officers, emphasizing the critical role of dedication and discipline in the NSCDC’s mission.

In a show of appreciation, Deputy Commandant Udoh Justin, on behalf of the newly promoted officers, expressed gratitude to the Almighty, the CDCFIB, and Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, Commandant General of the NSCDC. He also thanked Comdt. Maku for his leadership, which contributed to their career advancements.

Among those promoted were Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Udoh Justin, Ag. Head of Technical Services Department; Applonia Ezego, 2i/c Admin Department; Rotifa Taiwo, Head of Finance and Account; Cecilia Okoye-Iheme, Safe School Coordinator; and Nnadi Ngozi, Head of Disaster Management Unit. Officers promoted to Assistant Commandant of Corps (ACC) include Ulasi Okwuchukwu, Officer in Charge of VIP Protection, and Aguoji Ifeanyi, Ag. Head of the Anti-Vandalism Squad.

Also decorated were Timothy Ibenwa, Commander at Chinua Achebe International Airport, promoted to Chief Superintendent of Corps (CSC), alongside Chinenye Nwosu, Commander of the Tactical “S” Squad, and Sopuruchi Nwokeji, Head of Gender Unit, both promoted to Superintendent of Corps (SC).

The ceremony was attended by a wide array of security and community representatives, including Lt. S.O. Oladapo of the Nigerian Army’s 302 Artillery Regiment, CSP Williams Odumu representing the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Controller Muhammad Idris of the Nigerian Correctional Service, and His Royal Highness Igwe Ezekwesiri Mmaduagwuna, Igwe Ofemiri. Their presence underscored the significance of the event and the cooperative effort required for maintaining security in Anambra State.
