The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on market women in Ebonyi State to refrain from hiking food prices as the Yuletide season approaches.

Speaking during the state’s 2024 Women’s Day Celebration at Pa Ngele Oruta Township Stadium, Abakaliki, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the importance of fairness in pricing to ease the burden on citizens during the festive period.

Her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, revealed in a statement that the First Lady commended the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, for his support of women through strategic appointments and interventions.

In a related development, the First Lady inaugurated the 3.1-kilometer runway of the Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo International Airport in Onueke, Ebonyi State. She described the project as a catalyst for socio-economic growth in the region, expressing optimism about the opportunities it would bring.

Mrs. Tinubu also met with traditional rulers at the Presidential Lodge in Abakaliki, urging them to continue fostering peace and unity. “Nigeria has everything it takes to be great. Let us continue to bless this land, and I appeal to you, our traditional rulers, to lead in that regard,” she stated.

Highlighting Governor Nwifuru’s achievements, the First Lady praised his inclusive leadership, noting the appointment of women in key positions, including the Deputy Governor and Secretary to the State Government.
