The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has directed the remand of former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The decision was made during a court session today, where Bello pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from an alleged ₦110 billion fraud. The charges, which include conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and possession of unlawfully obtained property, were also brought against his co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu.
Despite efforts by Bello’s legal team to secure his release through a bail application, the court adjourned proceedings until December 10, when it will rule on the matter.
Until then, the former governor will remain in EFCC custody as the trial unfolds.
